Chilean rider Tomas Couve Correa was stretchered out of the D’Ornano Stadium after a heavy fall in the team jumping at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games earlier today (Wednesday 3 September).
Tomas came off at a midway oxer and screens were erected around him while he was treated in the stadium. He was taken to hospital for further treatment.
An official statement reads: “Chilean rider Tomas Couve Correa, who had a fall from his horse Underwraps at fence eight in the second round of the team jumping competition at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy in the D’Ornano Stadium shortly after 15:50 today [Wednesday 3 September], has been taken to hospital for evaluation.
“He was fully conscious when he left the stadium by ambulance and his life is not in danger.”
His horse was not injured in the fall.
