The rain over the past few days has led to the car parks being closed at Haras du Pin, venue for the eventing at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG).
The media operations team have sent out an email saying: “Please note that due to weather conditions, car parks are not open until further notice.
“You will be able to park around the Chateau of the Pin National Stud, on a first come first serve basis. Your accreditation will allow you to park there.”
A member of the public with eventing tickets reported that she has not had any communication about changes to arrangements as yet. She had not booked any car parking as she was told to use the free park and ride service.
The first horse inspection for the eventing competition takes place today at 3pm, with the dressage kicking off tomorrow morning.
Haras du Pin is the venue for the dressage and cross-country phases of the eventing. Horses will trot up there on Sunday morning, before being driven in convoy into central Caen to showjump at the D’Ornano stadium, where the pure dressage and showjumping take place (pictured yesterday after a heavy shower).
Update: Thursday 28 August
Event organisers have confirmed that car parking will be available for spectators with a car pass. Please follow the signs at the venue as the parking areas may be moved depending on the conditions.
Report on the trot-up and cross-country course pictures later today. Don’t forget to buy H&H on Thursday, 4 September for a full report on the WEG eventing.
