Twenty-times champion National Hunt jockey AP McCoy is to be honoured with the lifetime achievement award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards
AP McCoy OBE is the greatest National Hunt jockey of all time. He has been Champion Jockey 20 times (that’s every year since he went professional in the 1995/96 season), and has won almost every big race there is to win.
Among his most high profile winners are the prestigious Cheltenham Gold Cup, Champion Hurdle, Queen Mother Champion Chase, King George VI Chase and the 2010 Grand National.
He was also named BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2010 and retired in April 2015. AP joined the Channel 4 Racing team in November 2015 and will be offering his professional opinion on some of the biggest race meetings in the calendar.
