Tom Jackson
Event rider Tom Jackson has enjoyed an illustrious junior and young rider career and is now achieving good results at senior level.
Tom was a team gold medalist at the 2012 junior European Championships. He followed this up with team silver at the 2013 young rider European Championships and team bronze at the 2014 young rider European Championships.
All of these accomplishments were achieved riding his own and his parents Ian and Sara’s bay gelding Waltham Fiddlers Find (aka Wesley), who was Tom’s first horse.
After three seasons competing, schooling and breaking horses in two international event yards, Tom Jackson set up his own event yard in 2013.
Tom was the national under-25 champion in 2014, having won the CCI3* (now CCI4*-L) age-restricted class at Bramham Horse Trials. He ended the 2014 season in second place in the Goldman Cup league for the top under-21 riders by British Eventing points, with Waltham Fiddlers Find securing 26th place in the top 100 British Eventing horse rankings.
In 2015, Tom was sixth in the under-25 section at Bramham. The same year, he was listed as first reserve to represent Great Britain at the senior European Eventing Championships, held at Blair Castle. He received the call-up but was ultimately unable to compete due to a setback which meant Wes was not fit to compete.
However, Wes returned to competition to take Tom to his first Badminton Horse Trials in 2017 and the pair started at four five-stars together before the horse retired.
Tom has since ridden at the top level on other horses. He was seventh at Pau Horse Trials on Billy Cuckoo in 2021 and scored a breakthrough result when he was second at Burghley Horse Trials on Capels Hollow Drift in 2022.
He followed this up with fifth at Badminton the following spring on the same horse and was subsequently selected for the 2023 European Eventing Championships. The pair finished 29th at the championships in Haras du Pin, France. Tom and Capels Hollow Drift were fifth at Badminton again in 2024.
The pair were listed for the Paris Olympics after that result, but didn’t make the final cut. They went on to finish fifth at Burghley in September.
