Supporting equestrian sport at the highest level
As part of the company’s aim to support and sponsor world class sporting fixtures, Equestrian.com is delighted to be sponsoring the prestigious Hickstead Derbt Meeting, which runs from 25 to 28 June.
The Hickstead Derby featuring the illustrious Derby Bank, along with the Devil’s Dyke and one of the widest water jumps in the world, is a major highlight of the showjumping calendar and offers a fantastic spectacle for the large audience it attracts.
This year sees a thrilling battle between the two most recent winners of the event. In 2013, Phillip Miller snatched glory from good friend Trevor Breen, but last year there was a reversal in fortune as Breen and the one eyed wonder horse, Adventure De Kannan, clinched victory with the narrowest of margins.
Besides these two top class riders, there are also a number of former victors in the line-up, including William Funnell and Guy Williams, vying for their name to be reprinted on the famous Boomerang Trophy.
2015 brings the 55th running of the Hickstead Derby and in that time there have only been 56 clear rounds, exemplifying the difficulty of this enormous and technical course. No rider is yet to beat the extraordinary record set by Eddie Macken and the incredible Boomerang, who won four back to back titles in the 1970s and the winner’s trophy now honours the horse’s name.
Equestrian.com CEO Lorraine Meadowcroft said: “The Hickstead Derby Meeting is a show-stopping event that oozes beauty and emotion. The main ring instantly hits you with vibrant colours, fastidious attention to detail and iconic fences making for a truly spectacular occasion. We are absolutely thrilled to be headline sponsors of the 2015 running of the Hickstead Derby Meeting.”
Throughout the four days, the Equestrian.com team will be on hand offering visitors to the stand the chance of winning £1,000 to spend with them online. So make sure you visit them to have a go at getting your hands on this fantastic prize.
The Equestrian.com Hickstead Derby offers a total prize fund of €140,000, with some of the world’s finest show jumping combinations aiming to take home their share. No other showjumping class challenges its entrants quite like the Hickstead Derby, creating a real spectacle for spectators to enjoy.
This year’s Equestrian.com Hickstead Derby is set to be a truly wonderful event and we hope you enjoy the coverage. You can watch live streaming of all the action as the event unfolds on Hickstead.TV, Equestrian.com and Horse & Country TV.
