Support your horse this winter with FMBs Therapy Systems *Promotion*

FMBs Therapy Systems provides professional and amateur riders with a range of therapy equipment for their horses, whether this is used to enhance suppleness, fitness, rehabilitation or performance. Best of all, with finance and hire options available on many products, and second-hand systems also available, there’s something to suit every budget.

One of the company’s most popular products is the Activo-Med Combi Pro rug – a product used by the horses of Charlotte Dujardin, Carl Hester, William Fox-Pitt, Nicola Wilson, Scott Brash, Ben Maher, Willie Mullins, Dan Skelton and many more.

The rug provides cyclonic massage and pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy over the horse’s entire body, from poll to tail, including the shoulder and thigh areas. The rug can be used pre warm up, post exercise and for rehabilitation. The pre-set control panel is easy for the owner to select the most relevant programme and the rug does the rest! The rug contains 19 strategically placed PEMF spools and 14 cyclonic massage modules over the main muscle groups, which work according to the programme selected on the control box. The PEMF therapy uses a range of selected therapeutic frequencies to help promote cell efficiency and recovery and the massage element gives high support of the venous blood flow to the heart in conformity to the blood circulation and the lymphatic system.

The Activo-Med Combi Pro can be bought outright, hired at a cost of £125 per week, and finance options are also available. Second-hand systems can also be purchased.

In addition to the Activo-Med Combi Pro rug, FMBs Therapy Systems offers a number of other products from the same range that combine PEMF and massage therapy, such as the Power Pad, Power Girth, Leg Wraps and Hoof Boots. There’s also the new Activo-Med Vibro-Combi Floor that can be purchased with optional stocks, solarium and/or weighing scales.

In addition to products that are applied direct to the horse’s body, FMBs also supplies a range of performance, fitness and rehabilitation machinery including both dry and water treadmills, spas and solariums – ideal for the colder winter months when turnout might be reduced and alternative exercise options are needed.

The Activo-Med Water Treadmill can be used for improved equine rehabilitation, fitness and strength and can also be used to increase cardiovascular activity, stride length and muscle tone. Although FMBs sells and maintains these units, the company also has a list of installations available to hire for those wishing to use a water treadmill that don’t want to buy one.

The Activo-Med system has an easy walk in, walk out design with a lowered front that allows the horse to work in a more natural outline. It has rapid filling and emptying, a customised filtration system and it’s built to last. With full UK servicing and back up, and support and training from FEI vet Dr Matthias Baumann, this is the ultimate water treadmill for horses.

A dry equine treadmill is also available that has variable speed and incline. The professionally engineered treadmill takes up much less space than a horse walker and provides numerous different options to help develop the horse’s strength, flexibility, stamina and balance.

Another popular line for winter is EquiSox, the Zipped Equine Compression Socks. These ingenious wraps make bandaging a thing of the past and help to reduce performance-associated swelling after exercise. They’re popular with riders from a range of different sports, including those who hunt as the wraps can be zipped into place after a day’s hunting. EquiSox support the lymphatic and circulatory systems, conform to the anatomy of the leg and offer a consistent therapeutic level of compression without the fear of pressure points. They’re quick to apply and are made using technologically advanced textiles to facilitate thermoregulation. Priced at £75 per pair, they’re excellent value.

For those looking to improve their riding over the winter months and beyond, the FilmMe automatic video recording system with instant and live playback is superb. Used by Laura Tomlinson, training and competition centres and livery yards, the system tracks your every movement at the press of a button on the wristband and automatically zooms and records what you’re doing until the button is pressed again. The system automatically uploads the schooling session to your personal secure account, but it can also be viewed live anywhere in the world, which makes it ideal for riders who have trainers based a long way away. The system is also a great way to review training and performance, record competition success and dressage tests, view horses for sale and more. FilmMe has been installed in a number of private arenas, colleges and riding schools across the UK and Europe.
