Remarkable turnaround: looking at this photo of 13.2hh Fell mare Bess meeting supporters at a recent fundraiser for World Horse Welfare, it’s hard to imagine that she was emaciated, lice-ridden and scared of people when she came into the charity’s care last year. Her owner never came forward.
