Germany has introduced a new studbook to produce international show jumpers
A new studbook limited to show jumpers has been introduced in Germany.
The Springpferdezuchtverband Oldenburg-International e.V (OS), which has expert names such as Paul Schockem”hle and Leon Melchior on its committee, has a goal of producing international show jumpers.
The members of the new studbook’s selection committee are former German team trainer Herbert Meyer, Belgian rider Jan Vleugels, international rider and breeder Soren von Ronne and auctioneer Uwe Heckmann, who is also a member of the Oldenburg Studbook’s mare and stallion commission.
The first grading day saw more than 90 stallions put forward. Of these, only six young stallions and five older sires were approved. A second grading day will be held on 22 April.
The studbook will work closely with the Oldenburg Verband and a foal auction will be held in August, for which both Oldenburg and OS foals will be eligible.
