Show jumper Niall Grimes dies aged 31


  • American-based Irish show jumper Niall Grimes has died aged 31.

    He collapsed after a heart attack at the Kentucky National Horse Show in Lexington, USA on 28 September.

    Although doctors revived him twice, he died on 3 October with his family at his side.

    President of the Equestrian Federation of Ireland Charles Powell described Mr Grimes as “a highly respected horseman”.

    His body was been brought home for a traditional evening mass on 11 October and morning burial in Ireland.
