Search is on for new American showjumping chef d’equipe

  • American showjumping officials have started the search for a new chef d’equipe to replace the legendary George Morris.

Mr Morris – who led the US team to gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics – plans to retire after the 2012 Games, after seven years at the helm.

He leaves some large boots to fill. Mr Morris rode to team silver at the 1960 Rome Olympics and went on to train dozens of riders at his New Jersey yard.

His students have won medals at five Olympic Games.
