Robert Whitaker fined for attacking security guard

  • Showjumper Robert Whitaker has been fined £2,500 and suspended from British Showjumping (BS) for six months, suspended for 12, following a violent incident at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) last year.

BS said Robert Whitaker was “found to have kicked a security guard, contrary to Rules 82.1 and 82.11” on 3 October 2012.

As a result, BS said the stewards decided that he should be fined £2,500 and severely reprimanded and cautioned as to his future behaviour.

The stewards also ruled that the 29-year-old should be suspended from BS for six months.

The ban been suspended for 12 months — on the proviso that any similar offence committed within the next year would invoke the suspension.
