Olympic showjumping champion Steve Guerdat injured at World Cup show

  • Steve Guerdat is recovering after being kicked by another horse at the World Cup show in Bordeaux.

The Olympic champion was caught on the knee yesterday (7 February) and was taken to hospital.

Tests initially suggested that he did not have a fracture and Steve was discharged from the hospital yesterday evening.

In a statement on his Facebook page, the Swiss rider said he would try to ride today (Friday, 8 February).

Steve and Nino Des Buissonnets were the only pair to jump two faultless rounds in the final phase of the Olympic showjumping last year (pictured). He took gold without needing to jump off.

    Update: Monday 11 February

Steve jumped in the World Cup qualifier on Saturday evening, despite suffering a hairline fracture of the tibia, to pick up four faults and qualify for the final.
