New ride for John Whitaker

  • John Whitaker has been given the ride on a new showjumper formerly competed by Franke Sloothaak and Beat Mandli

John Whitaker brought a new grand prix ride back with him from the show in Geesteren, Holland.

John has been asked to ride Lord Z, a 12-year-old stallion son of Lord – also the sire of Lord Liberty W – by the horse’s German owner.

Lord Z, who first hit the headlines with German star Franke Sloothaak and was partnered by Swiss rider Beat Mandli in last year’s World Cup series, has not jumped since Olympia, when he suffered an overreach.

“I’ll jump him at a few small shows and then plan his campaign,” said John. “He’s not jumping fit yet, but he’s a really lovely horse.”
