It’s going to be a busy summer for British number two showjumper Michael Whitaker. Not only does he have the European Championships in Herning, Denmark (20-24 August) to prepare for, he is also counting down the days until he weds long-term partner Melissa Braybrooke.
Michael, 53, proposed to Melissa last Christmas and the pair are set to tie the knot in a registry office, followed by a marquee reception at their Nottinghamshire home in August.
The couple have three children together — Jack, Molly and Katie — and Jack will be acting as best man on the big day while the two girls are bridesmaids.
This will be Michael’s second marriage.
“I’m not nervous now, but I will be on the day!” said Michael.
