Graham Lovegrove took the 1.25m championship, riding his sister Sarah’s seven-year-old chestnut Selle Francais gelding, Louison De Jade. Second spot went to Tim Page and Alison Claxton’s MacGarveys Choice, who finished 1sec in arrears.
Kim Barzilay’s Peter IV, of Only Fools On Horses fame, headed the 37-strong 1.15m championship with Emma-Jo Slater. The novice equivalent went to Nick Downs and A Touch Of Clover.
Consistent placings earned 16-year-old Yorkshireman Joe Clayton the leading under-21 and gentleman rider awards.
Ben Maher’s burgeoning partnership with Bob Moore’s Bob’s Diamond continued at full speed in Maastricht, Holland, where they finished third in the grand prix.
The pair jumped a good double clear to finish behind the French winner, Roger Yves Bost, on Ideal De La Loge, and home rider Vincent Voorn (Audi’s Alpapillon Armanie). Ben was also third with Barry Fitch’s Roxsy in a speed class.
A double clear on St Honore’s Liquido saw John Whitaker take fifth place in a jump-off class, while Henry Turrell produced a foot-perfect performance on Play Boy S to finish third in the B group final.
Young rider Henry Lacey (Frühlingsfest and Cardoso) and Claire Heynemann (Quo Vadis) were also in the money in the amateur section.
