Jessica Kurten’s suspension from competition begins

  • Jessica Kurten will not be competing in this weekend’s show in Gelderland, Netherlands as she has been suspended from competition from tomorrow, Saturday 7 June, by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI).

Yesterday Ms Kurten lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision made by the FEI on 7 May to suspend her from 7 June as a result of a medication case involving her horse Castle Forbes Maike in 2007.

As part of the appeal submission to CAS, Ms Kurten also sought a stay on her suspension pending a decision on her appeal.

CAS has written to the FEI seeking a response from them on this point before 2pm next Monday. After this CAS will make an order in relation to the request for a stay on the suspension.
