Eddie Macken set to delight the Hickstead crowds

  • Eddie Macken, one of Hickstead’s heroes of the 1970s, will make a welcome return to the International Arena at the Longines Royal International Horse Show (23-28 July).

Eddie, 59, has been named as one of the Irish show jumping team for the Samsung Super League with FEI Competition at Hickstead, when the British team will be trying to go one better than their second place last year.

The nations competing on 25 July will be Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland, last year’s winner, the United States, Sweden and Belgium.

Eddie, who will be riding the Belgium-bred Tedechine Sept, holds the Hickstead record for four consecutive wins on his great horse Boomerang in what is now the DFS Derby at the British Jumping Derby Meeting.
