Simon Crippen won the West End and Metropolitan Estates Novice Jumping Championship at Royal Windsor Horse Show this afternoon. Partnering Long Mead Mendo, Crippen produced a stunning double clear, completing the jump off in 42.9 sec. He takes home £130 and the Walwyn Challenge trophy.
But William Funnell gave Crippen a run for his money. Funnell and Unforgettable Picobello were the only other contestants to jump clear in the first round and started the jump off at a cracking pace. Sadly, despite completing fastest – 38.3 sec – Unforgettable Picobello tipped the top rail of the second to last fence, leaving it on the floor.
Nicola Swinback and Cora Belle finished in third place having scored an unfortunate four penalties in the first round.
