Cian O’Connor is Ireland’s Olympic show jumping reserve rider

  • SHOW jumper Cian O’Connor has been named as Ireland’s official non-travelling Olympic reserve.

Cian, who won individual gold at Athens in 2004 and was then stripped of his title after a doping offence, will ride the 11-year-old Complete.

Horse Sport Ireland has been offered a dressage place following the withdrawal of another rider, but said neither of its two qualified riders, Judy Reynolds or Anna Merveldt, could accept at short notice.
