British squad for FEI Nations Cup in Rome confirmed


  • Peter Charles, Ben Maher, Nick Skelton, Robert Smith and Michael Whitaker have been selected to travel to Rome, Italy next week for second round of the FEI Nations Cup.

    The squad includes three horses that jumped in the first round of the Nations Cup in La Baule — Murka’s Nevada VI (Peter Charles), Carlo (Nick Skelton) and Talan (Robert Smith) — along with Michael Whitaker’s experienced GIG Amai II and Ben Maher’s up-and-coming Tripple X III.

    Ben Maher recently won the €80,000 Grand Prix in Linz on this nine-year-old black stallion, which is owned jointly by Ben and Quainton Stud, but this will be their first Nations Cup appearance.

    World Class Showjumping Performance manager Rob Hoekstra will be aiming to improve on Britain’s fourth place performance in the first leg of the Nations Cup in La Baule last week. The FEI Nations Cup in Rometakes place on Friday 27 May at 16:00 CEST.
