The Veteran Jumping Riders Europa and Challenge Cup Finals are to be hosted by Britain for the first time this year (23-26 August).
Veteran Jumping Riders (VJR) from across Europe will venture to Addington Manor Equestrian Centre, Buckinghamshire for the highlight of the VJR calendar.
Britain’s VJR teams enjoyed a fantastic 2006 season, winning the individual gold and team bronze medals at last year’s European championships and they will be looking for success on home turf later this summer.
“This a tremendous opportunity for older riders in Britain to get involved with international VJR Competitions and a chance to compete against riders and teams from all over Europe,” said Addington VJR Show President, John Bosher.
Classes range from 1.10m upwards and courses will be designed by leading British course-designer Bob Ellis. There will be a Nations Cup Competition on Saturday 25 August with individual honours being decided on Sunday 26 August. A weekend for two in London worth over £1,000 and fine jewellery are among the prizes on offer.
To qualify, veteran riders must not have taken part in any competition where the first round exceeds 1.30m. Ladies must be in their 45th year or older, and veteran gentleman riders in the 49th year or older.
