This year’s Kerrygold Dublin Horse Show has a massive total prize fund of more than 415,000 Euros
This year’s Kerrygold Horse Show in Dublin (7-11 August) is set to be even bigger and better than ever before with a total prize-fund of more than 415,000 Euros.
This prestigious event, sponsored by the Irish Dairy Board, always attracts top riders from across the globe and this year proves no exception. Seven nations, including Belgium, the Netherlands and Britain will be competing against the hosts in the Nation’s Cup.
British hopes in the international competitions will be carried by individual rider Robert Smith (Mr Springfield, MariusClaudius), as well as British team members Tim Stockdale (Parcival, Landed Gentry), Di Lampard (Abbervail Dream, Carlucci), William Funnell (Cortaflex Amber du Montois, Cortaflex Machiavelli) and Mark Armstrong (Elise, Graf Gold).
Top national and international competitors
In addition to top international show jumping, the event also hosts 90 highly competitive national show jumping and showing competitions across the five days.
“It’s not only the prize-money which attracts the top international riders to the show,” says Gerry McAuliffe, Kerrygold Horse Show director. “It’s the prestige of competing at one of the best shows in the world and the craic that surrounds it.”
Amateur riders will also be competing in the main arena as 16 hunt teams contest the Dublin Hunt Chase (10-11 August). A huge crowd pleaser, this event sees teams of four hunt members, which must include one lady and one male rider weighing 14st or more, competing in a relay over a course of solid county-type obstacles.
Also a leading social event, visitors to the show can look forward to enjoying live music and entertainment on the Band Lawn throughout the day, while the most stylishly dressed lady on Thursday 8 August will drive home in a new SEAT Leon car, worth 18,060 Euros.
