Aachen CHIO show jumping

  • Beezie Madden became the first American rider to win the Aachen grand prix since Anne Kurskinski on Starman in 1991 last week. Frenchman Roger Yves-Bost finished second on Ideal De La Loge, ahead of Germany’s Christian Ahlmann on Coster.

The Germans threw everything into a home Nations Cup win — the fifth leg in the Samsung Super League series — for the 24th time. Switzerland finished eight faults behind in second place, while Sweden, last after round one, bounced back to finish equal third on 20 faults with France.

The rollercoaster pattern of Britain’s season — two wins, two last places — continued with resounding last place on 34 faults. Britain has now slipped from second to fourth in the Samsung League.
