Newark and Nottingham County Show (9 and 10 May) is set to expand this year with the addition of five new qualifiers.
The show will also not clash with Royal Windsor for the first time in three years.
“It happens every fourth year — it’s just the luck of the way the dates fall,” said a spokesman for Newark and Nottingham, “but it does mean we clash with Badminton this year.”
The qualifiers include new opportunities for working hunters, working hunter ponies, ridden Irish Draughts, Veteran Horse and Pony and Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) to gain coveted tickets for prestigious championships including the Royal International Horse Show.
There will be 227 classes in all over the two days.
