International New Forest Mare Show


  • Highfox Forever impressed Dutch New Forest pony enthusiasts when winning the Best Type in Show award at the International New Forest Mare Show at Ermelo in Holland last month.

    Highfox Forever, a 10-year old mare bred by Paul and Diane Hadwen of Queensbury, West Yorkshire, was the only pony to be was awarded 10 out of 10 for breed type at the show, which marked the 50th Anniversary of the Dutch New Forest Breed Society, the Dutch New Forest Stamboek.

    The mare is by the late Fijal Maestro out of Rainy Day Girl, a mare bred on the New Forest.

    The competition was judged on an open marks system, with each of the three judges awarding marks independently and the marks being held up by stewards to the crowd.

    Flandnhofs Joronja from Germany took the Best Pony title after picking up the most points overall, while De Hensinghe’s Mabel was thought to be the “best mover” by the judges.
