Rugs, hoods and other equipment valued at more than £650 were stolen from a stable being used by show producer Lynn Russell at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS).
“We had all our tack in a stable next to the horses, and someone must have been watching to see when we went to the ring to exercise,” said Lynn.
“When we came back, it was all gone. What sickens me most is that it must have been either a fellow competitor or someone connected with them, rather than just an opportunist from outside.
“I would like to thank everyone who helped to replace essential items, and warn other people never to leave anything unlocked while they are at a show.”
Among the items stolen were new Snuggy hoods and body suits, two fleeces and two New Zealand rugs.
It was also rumoured that a portable generator was stolen from the horsebox park, although this is unconfirmed.
HOYS organiser had no comment.
