The atmosphere was electric under the spotlights at the International Miniature Horse & Pony Society (IMHPS) Miniature Horse Of The Year Show 2006 as judge John Careless considered his choice for the supreme champion at Arena UK recently.
The Pallet family’s coloured Stallion, Lucky Four Classy Dude, who had been imported from the USA, got the nod to win more than £3,000 in prizes. This extravagant stallion took the judge’s eye over the Pallett’s homebred colt Ujenik Extasys Alpine Boy. The reserve title was awarded to Ronnie Jones with her stunning spotted stallion Broomells Sunup.
During the show miniatures, Falabellas and Shetlands were all under the judges’ scrutiny in in-hand, driving and jumping classes. The Arabian / Thoroughbred supreme champion was won by Ujenik Extasys Destiny, with Toyland USA Ron Rojo taking the draught supreme.
Penmorfafarm Mascot was crowned Shetland of the year, while Honey Brook Slim Jim took the small standard award for his delighted owners, Pitter Patter Ponies. The impeccably mannered Fairbrook Chieftain won the driving horse of the year, while honours in the puissance jumping were shared between Faithfarms Prince of Hearts, Asils Spot On and Ujenik Extasys Snowman.
President Tikki Adorian was “delighted with the quality of entries”, as some members travelled from France to exhibit, making the show a truly international event. The IMPHS’s plans for the future include expanding qualifying classes throughout Europe to encourage more international exhibitors to attend.
