Frankel, the world’s greatest racehorse has done it again, this time winning by a cool seven lengths in the Juddmonte International Stakes at York (22 August).
The Sir Henry Cecil-trained horse – who went into the race unbeaten – notched up his 13th consecutive win.
He set off at 1-10 favourite. Frankel had a slow break from the stalls, but barely came out of first gear as he swooped past his rivals to take the lead.
It was the four-year-old’s first time over 10 furlongs and he cruised through the race, finishing ahead of Godolphin’s Farhh. The Aidan O’Brien-trained St Nicholas Abbey was a nose behind in third.
Frankel, who is a son of Galileo, is owned by his breeder Prince Khalid Abdullah.
“It’s like a dream,” said the Prince’s racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe, after the race.
Trainer Sir Henry Cecil was at York, after missing Frankel’s Goodwood win earlier this month due to treatment for cancer.
“It was great wasn’t it?” said Sir Henry. “It’s fantastic and it’s great for Yorkshire — they’re very supportive of racing and deserve to see him. It [the win] makes me feel 20 years better.”
Jockey Tom Queally, who has partnered Frankel in all 13 of his victories said the race “panned out nicely” and that it was a “fantastic traning performance” from Sir Henry.
It was also Frankel’s eighth Group One win in a row, breaking Rock Of Gibraltar’s record. It took his winnings to more than £2million.
