Newmarket hosts “racing for jobs” careers day

  • Thinking about a career in the racing industry? Keen to learn more about what’s involved and what’s on offer? Then don’t miss the second annual “racing for jobs” day at Newmarket racecourse on Saturday 12 October.

The jobs fair takes place on Dubai Future Champions Day and a raft of organisations in the racing industry will be attending to offer advice to young people about careers in the sport.

They will include The Jockey Club, The National Stud, the British Racing School, Anglia Ruskin University, the British Horseracing Education and Standard Trust, the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association’s ‘Next Generation Club’, Careers in Racing, Great British Racing and Oxford Brookes University, plus Warwickshire College, Writtle College (Essex University) and Moulton College.

All students under 25 will be given free admission to the grandstand and paddock enclosure on the day.

Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket will also be offering an insight over brunch into Darley Flying Start, a two-year, international management training programme for future thoroughbred industry leaders.

Jockey Club Racecourses’, Amy Starkey, herself a graduate entrant into the racing industry, said: “We were delighted with the success of the first ‘racing for jobs’ event last year and it’s going to be bigger and better in 2013 when we showcase the career opportunities within racing for the student ‘future champions’ of tomorrow.”

Advance prices: £20.70 for the grandstand and paddock and £36 for the premier enclosure.  Accompanied children under 18 are admitted free to all enclosures on the Rowley Mile. Students under 25 are admitted free on Dubai Future Champions Day.
