Hayley Turner recovering well in hospital after stalls accident

  • Jockey Hayley Turner is recovering well in hospital following an accident on the gallops in Newmarket on Tuesday (3 March).

The first female jockey in Britain to ride over 100 winners in one calendar year, Hayley is reported to be in brighter spirits and a stable condition today. She will remain in Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridgeshire for a couple of days for observation.

She was aboard trainer Phil McEntee’s Old Sarum when the horse broke his shoulder coming out of the stalls, firing Hayley into the ground.

Hayley was knocked unconscious temporarily and was bleeding from the nose and mouth. The horse suffered a fatal injury.
