The sport of point-to-point is amateur horseracing over fences with registered thoroughbreds.
Point-to-pointing is intrinsically linked to hunting. Point-to-point horses must have hunted for at least four days in order to take part, while riders have to be certified by the Point-to-Point Authority in order to take part. Horses that are not full thoroughbred can take part in members’ races at point-to-point meetings.
The point-to-point season typically runs from late November until mid June. Each meeting can host up to seven races, which are around 3miles in length.
