Forty-six horses come forward to the final showjumping phase of the Bicton Horse Trials, supported by Chedington. One horse was withdrawn after the cross-country and but all that were presented at this morning’s vet inspection were passed fit to continue in the competition.
The showjumping course at a maximum height of 1.20m consists of 12 fences and 15 jumping efforts. The time to beat is 79 seconds and, if today’s competition is anywhere near as influential as yesterday’s CCI4*-S showjumping, it is all to play for.
The CCI4*-L showjumping gets underway at 10am this morning (13 June), with the CCI4*-L under-25 section starting at 1pm.
Nicola Wilson currently leads the CCI4*-L with JL Dublin. They are on a score of 28.7, with Piggy March and Vanir Kamira, with whom she won Badminton in 2019 and was runner-up at Burghley in the same year, are in second on 29.9. Reigning world champion, Ros Canter is in third with Lordships Graffalo on 30.6. Less than 10 penalties separate the top 10, so it’s all to play for. The top 10 are scheduled to start jumping at 11.41am.
The CCI4*-L is currently led by Bubby Upton and Cola III, who were the only combination in this section to remain on their dressage score of 27.7. Bubby also holds second with Cannavaro on 33.5, while Heidi Coy is third with Russal Z on 35.
