What the organisers say
We have flat, grass dressage arenas and a large warm-up by the river. The showjumping is sited on flat grass in the same field as the lorry park, with a spacious, flat warm-up area beside the arena. Our new sponsor here is showjumping aficionado AW Jenkinson Forestry Products. The going is usually excellent.
The cross-country has varying terrain from hills to fast galloping stretches with steeplechase fences beside the River Deveron. The fences are mostly permanent, originally designed by Hugh Lochore and Ronald Alexander. We have an enthusiastic new designer/builder, Robert McSkimming. Many natural features, such as banks, ditches and flowing burns, are incorporated into the courses.
The BE90 track offers an unparalleled education for youngsters and includes water. The BE80(T) course has every varied type of fence as in the higher classes, including water and a tiny ditch. The courses are full length.
Each track is built to a very high standard. Our original aim was natural, hunting-type courses, with questions relevant to each class. The BE90 and BE100 tracks are suitable for first-timers; the novice has testing fences with alternatives offered for the less experienced. The BE80(T) course is regarded as one of the best in Scotland.
