William Fox-Pitt and Chilli Morning win Bramham Horse Trials CIC3*

  • William Fox-Pitt won the British Equestrian Trade Association CIC3* at the Equi-Trek Bramham Horse Trials today on Chilli Morning.

Christopher Stone’s chestnut stallion showed his liking for the Yorkshire venue again this weekend after 2 previous wins here. After a showjumping clear, he could easily afford his 5.6 time-faults across country to win with  9.1 penalties in hand.

William said: “He’s been on good form — he got here and knew exactly where he was. I’m sure that makes a difference when horses feel comfortable and know things have gone their way somewhere. Being a stallion he’s that much more sensitive to that sort of thing. He hasn’t put a foot wrong all week.”

Dee Kennedy moved up from 7th after dressage to finish 2nd on her own Chequers Playboy. She had 1 time-fault in the showjumping, but went clear inside the time across country.

Belgian rider Karin Donckers took 3rd on her partner Carl Bouckaert and Joris de Brabander’s Fletch Van’T Verahof.

The CIC3* was the last class to run cross-country in today’s wet conditions and 4 fences were taken out.

Fence 3, the KBIS Arch, which had caused falls, was taken out towards the end of the under-25 section and not re-instated for the CIC3*. Before the CIC3* started a loop near the end of the course including 2 plain fences (Generator Power Ditch Brush at 15 and Brush Oxer at 16) and a double of corners (Speedi-Beet Double Feat at 17ab) was removed from the course.
