With his hectic schedule – he competed in nearly 40 events in Britain alone last year – you might be surprised to hear that William Fox-Pitt has time to entertain.
His secret? A little recipe entitled “loin of white fish”.
Made with spinach, creme fraiche and parmesan, it is “the fastest, most delicious dinner party main for busy people”.
He is one of 12 athletes who have donated their favourite recipes for a calendar.
Sold in aid of Helen’s Trust – which helps incurably ill people to stay in their own homes – it also features dishes from Olympics organiser Lord Coe, swimmer Rebecca Adlington and fellow eventer Ian Stark.
Lucy Nickson, of Helen’s Trust, asked: “What’s your favourite food – or a dish that’s helped you on the way to medal success?”
Presumably Ian Stark’s contribution – chocolate bread and butter pudding – falls into the former category.
The Food for Thought calendar, £8.99, is available from www.helenstrust.org.uk.
The first three people to mention H&H will receive a copy signed by William and Lord Coe.
