    Fact file

Stable name: he doesn’t really have one

    Age: seven

    Breed: thoroughbred

    Sire: Winged Love

    Dam: La Fandango

    Discipline: NH racing

    Owner: Anthony Knott

    Trainer: Keiran Burke

Best result: winning the Pulteney Land Investments Novices’ Handicap Chase at the 2012 Cheltenham Festival

    Four things you didn’t know…

1 Hunt Ball provided a first Cheltenham Festival winner for jockey Nick Scholfield, 23, and for trainer Keiran Burke, 26. Former jockey Keiran, who rode Holmwood Legend to victory at the 2011 Festival, took out a trainer’s licence last year after rupturing his spleen when kicked by a horse.

2 He won his race at Cheltenham by eight lengths ahead of White Star Line and his rating rose from 69 to 157 in three months.

3 In the excitement of Hunt Ball’s win at Wincanton in January, owner Anthony was fined £100 for jumping on to the horse and riding him into the winner’s enclosure.

4 There was a “Hunt Ball” raceday at Fontwell last Friday (9 November), sponsored by Paddy Power, to celebrate the horse’s success.
