Vet James Main to face RCVS disciplinary committee

  • Vet James Main faces a disciplinary hearing at the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) next month.

A spokesman for the RCVS confirmed the disciplinary committee will hold an enquiry starting on 14 February.

Mr Main was at the centre of a case in which Moonlit Path, owned by The Queen and trained by Nicky Henderson, was injected tranexamic acid, a banned blood clotting agent, before she was due to make her racecourse debut in February 2009.

Mr Main refused to attend a British Horseracing Authority hearing and stepped down from the BHA veterinary and counter-analysis committees after the incident. He also parted ways with Mr Henderson.

Mr Henderson was banned from racing for three months and fined £40,000.
