Vaulter Joanne Eccles beats the world at Aachen

  • Scottish vaulter Joanne Eccles has her sights set on gold at the European Championships after winning the ladies individual class at Aachen (26-28 June).

Joanne finished 8.3 points ahead of her nearest rival Anji Barwig of Germany, on her own WH Bentley, lunged by her father John.

A full British contingent of two senior teams, three female and two male individual vaulters and six horses, headed to Germany for the annual CVIO at the World Equestrian Festival.

The British team came fifth overall in the Nations Cup competition.

The Vaulting Europeans take place in Malmo, Sweden, from 29 July-2 August.
