Charlotte Dujardin’s Olympic partner Valegro has been voted the KWPN Horse of the Year.
Valegro, by Negro, fought off competition from 10 other horses — including Nick Skelton’s Big Star — to take the title.
A combination of a public vote and the KWPN horse of the year committee decided the winner.

Charlotte and Valegro were unbeaten in 2013 and set a new grand prix world record at Olympia in December.
“The bay gelding epitomizes the descriptive phrase ‘happy athlete,’” said a spokesman from KWPN.
“Wherever he competes, he is the audience favourite with his extremely expressive and balanced movement.”
Charlotte and Blueberry performed a demonstration at Den Bosch in the Netherlands on Saturday (8 February) to celebrate his achievement.
