Not content with spending hours in the saddle on your horse? You can now relax in a saddle at home too.
Furniture specialist Halo has created a unique chair inspired by the English saddle — complete with stirrups.
“I grew up in the Scottish countryside, surrounded by farmland, and equestrian memories were my inspiration,” said designer Ryan McNeish.
“A saddle is a recognisable and functional piece of sporting equipment and I wanted to see it in an entirely different form. The metal stirrups that hang from each arm create a contrast between the cool, shine of steel and the warmth of the soft leather. I wanted to make an extraordinary statement chair that fuses comfort, individuality and style.”
The chair, which comes in six finishes, not only replicates a saddle’s shape but also has the same design techniques, such as piping along the arms (saddle flaps) and leather panels.
The chair costs £1,449.
