Tim Stockdale leaves hospital six weeks after breaking neck

  • Tim Stockdale says he is happy to be back home – several weeks after he broke his neck in a fall.

He tweeted: “Home sweet home,” shortly after arriving back at his Northamptonshire yard this morning.

Tim fractured three vertebrae in his neck on 17 October in a fall from a youngster he was trying in North Wales.

He has spent nearly six weeks in the spinal injuries at Oswestry, most of it flat on his back. Doctors had to immobilise Tim in order to stabilise the injury.

When H&H spoke to Tim yesterday (23 November), he had just taken his first steps and was learning physio exercises to do at home.

“I can’t tell you how pleased I am,” he said. “I’m like a child at Christmas! All I’ve been looking at for the past six weeks is the ceiling.”

Although he is in good spirits, Tim told H&H that it would take some time to build up his strength.

“I’m still in a collar,” he said. “It just feels weird. I’m very weak because I’ve lost a lot of muscle.”
