Tickets are now on sale for this year’s Badminton Horse Trials.
Badminton runs from Thursday 21 April – Monday 25 April over Easter weekend, and the organisers are expecting a bumper crowd.
Thursday hosts the Mitsubish Motors Grassroots Championships, with the shopping village open for business and spectators can walk the four-star cross-country course, before watching the tense first trot-up in front of Badminton House. If you fancy visiting Badminton on the cheap, then this is the day to go with only car parking costs being levied.
The four-star competition will be hotly contested by 80 of the world’s top horse and rider combinations with dressage on Friday and Saturday, cross-country on Sunday and the final showjumping phase on Monday.
Event director and course designer Hugh Thomas said: “The sport has expanded enormously over the last 20 years and we expect a very international field again in 2011. This is almost certainly a one-off running [for Badminton Horse Trials] over the Easter weekend, which is traditionally a great one for sport, so we look forward to being a part of it.”
There will be Easter services on two mornings at the event — on Friday at Badminton Church and in the main arena on Sunday.
The box office is now open and tickets bought in advance have savings.
