The Duke of Essex Polo Trophy, billed as “the Essex social event of the year”, has been extended to two days for the first time (7 and 9 July).
It looks to be a good event for star-spotting; the cast of The Only Way Is Essex has already accepted their invites, while previous guests include Katie Price, Teddy Sheringham, Pixie Lott and Rod Stewart.
The big match will take place on Saturday 9 July, with Great Britain taking on South America. Top players Jamie Le Hardy, Jamie Morrison, Henry Brett and Kenny Hunt are set to represent the home side.
“This day is perfect for families,” said PR manager Marie Wardell-Hunter. “There will be lots of fun entertainment — dinky derby, jousting and a celebrity mini-match — as well as two evening marquees to keep the party crowds dancing all night.”
Gold Cup Day (Thursday 7 July), featuring a Great Britain v Rest of the World match, is a VIP full-day package (£240) including a four-course lunch designed by Masterchef’s Greg Wallace.
The event takes place at Gaynes Park Estate, Epping.
