The Brooke, the UK’s largest overseas equine welfare charity, is urging British horse enthusiasts to raise money to help needy horses, ponies and donkeys around the world this summer.
July is national “Horses in Need” month. This is the second year of The Brooke’s national campaign and the public are being asked to raise money in any way they can — from sky-diving to dinner parties — to help end the suffering of millions of animals.
The Brooke has a network of teams across nine countries providing care for equines and training to their owners.
The money raised through Horses in Need will go a long way. £1 could by seven hoof picks. £5 could pay for ten anti-rabies vaccinations. £20 could pay for ten boxes of painkillers. £100 could pay for two days clinic in a brick kiln in Pakistan, and £365 could pay for a mobile vet and training team to be on the road for a week.
Anyone signing up for Horses in Need 2008 will automatically be given an online fundraising page. They will also be sent a fundraising pack with ideas to get them started.
The Brooke is also offering dedicated fundraisers the chance to win prizes.
