Success for top British reiner

  • Leading British reining rider Francesca Sternberg, from East Sussex, has achieved third place in the end-of-year reining world rankings.

Francesca rides her own seven-year-old Quarter Horse stallion, Smart A Little, who was bred in Austria.

The non-pro rankings list is calculated from prize-money earning of horse and rider combination for a calendar year. No other European non-pro has ever attained such a high ranking on the list.

The full world standings can be viewed on the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) website at: www.nrha.com

    New reining events

The FEI has announced that shows in Bremen and Dortmund has been approved as FEI Reining events (CRIs).

Besides the NRHA Lawson Bronze Trophy and the qualification for the German Championship Reining (FN), Bremen and Dortmund now offer the chance of qualifying for the $100.000 World Reining Masters 2004 in Oklahoma City, USA.

This makes Bremen (27-28 February) and Dortmund (12-14 March) the first two qualifying events for the World Reining Masters.
