Statue of Windsor Greys to be unveiled

  • Work is under way on two statues of the Windsor Greys that pull The Queen’s carriage on state occasions and at Royal Ascot.

The bronzes, due to be unveiled in the King’s Road, Windsor, in October, will be presented to The Queen to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Coronation. They were funded by public donations, following an appeal.

Sculptor Robert Rattray spent many hours with two horses, Storm and Daniel, to capture their personalities.

“Storm is a punchy, enthusiastic character who had just been brought to the front of the train; Daniel is an old stalwart and rather cantankerous,“ he told H&H.

“I wanted to capture that yin and yang feel to their relationship,” he added.
