Sophie Christiansen joins para commission

  • Paralympic gold medallist Sophie Christiansen has been invited to join the British Paralympic Association’s (BPA) first ever athletes’ commission.

The new initiative, which is made up of 9 athletes, will act as an advisory group to the BPA. The group will give guidance on matters including anti-doping, team planning and preparation strategies.

Sophie said that she was “delighted” to have been elected onto the athletes’ commission and that she was “proud to represent an amazing team”.

Dave Clarke, who captained Britain’s Paralympic football 5-a-side team at London 2012, is going to chair the new commission.

“It is a real privilege to have been selected to this role and I can’t wait to get started,” Mr Clarke said.

“With a range of sports, backgrounds and experience on board, I am optimistic that British Paralympic athletes will feel well represented by this group and that we will work together on the issues which matter to them.”
