Eventing season hit by another cancellation

  • Somerford Park (1) in Cheshire, which was due to run on 8-9 March, has been forced to cancel due to the weather.

The event — which holds classes from BE90 to novice — has been forced to cancel as the persistent rain has prevented them from being able to complete the cross-country course.

“It has not been an easy decision to make by any means, however with 3 weeks to go we can’t access the cross-country course to complete the build as the ground is saturated,” said organiser Debbie King.

“The forecast for the region is for more bad weather so hopefully by cancelling early members will be able to make alternative competition plans with no financial loss.”

The event is still planning to run its event in August (15-17), which includes a CIC* and CIC**.

Somerford is the 3rd cancellation of the season after Moreton (March 1-2) in Dorset was forced to abandon due to the weather and Draycott House (5-6 April) cancelled “for reasons beyond the control of BE”.
