Socks the Shetland pony, who hit the spotlight last year in a video advert for mobile phone company Three, is using his new-found celebrity status to boost tourism in Scotland.
As part of his new role as an ambassador for the Islands, he met 2 competition winners from London.
Chris Harrison and his girlfriend Olivia Delnevo won a free visit to the Shetland Isles for wearing the best knitwear before Christmas.
As part of the competition the couple also got to meet Socks in his “I love Shetland” sweater, which was specially knitted by local designer Doreen Brown.
“We’ve had a fantastic time on Shetland – but meeting Socks face-to-face has definitely been a highlight,” said Chris Harrison.
“Some people say celebrities can be difficult in real life, but Socks seems really comfortable with his fame.”
Socks’ work as an ambassador seems to paying off. A recent survey showed that 65,000 people visited Shetland between October 2012 and September 2013, boosting the local economy by over £16.2 million.
