A second horse has been found dead in Alfriston, Sussex.
Calvin, a Welsh cross, was found at around 12.30pm on Wednesday (17 November) in a field on Winston Street.
The seven-year-old horse had no visible injuries and may have died of natural causes, but a post mortem is being conducted.
Last month an 18-month-old cob called Rascal was found dead in a field in Alfriston with multiple injuries, which police said were caused deliberately.
“We are in the early stages of investigation and are keeping an open mind as to the cause of death,” said a spokesman for Sussex police, commenting on the second death.
“The death is being treated as unexplained.”
The RSPCA have not been involved at this stage.
